DI presents at various intervals following hyperbaric exposure 14: 50% occur within 30 minutes of surfacing; 85% occur within one hour of surfacing; 95% occur within 3 hours of surfacing; 1% delayed more than 12 hours. However, symptoms have been reported to appear as late as 24 hours and more after surfacing and even longer if exposure to altitude follows the hyperbaric excursion.
